SUMMERFIELD CIVIC ASSOCIATION (SCA) - Tigard Oregon

Book Club

Second Tuesday of the Month - 2:00 PM

All residents of Summerfield, including snowbirds, are welcome to join us on the second Tuesday of the month.  We meet in the Summerfield Clubhouse in the Lakeside Room or the Conference Room.  Attendance varies from sixteen to twenty or more.  There are no dues.

We read a different book each month except December.  The books are chosen by a small book selection committee from suggestions by the members.  The availability of the books is considered (in paperback, number of copies in the Washington County Library System) as well as variety in type i.e., fiction, non-fiction, biography, mystery, etc., but hopefully all books of quality.

The book selection committee presents a list of the chosen books in November and members volunteer to introduce information about the author of one of the books.  At the December Holiday Party the completed lists are distributed.  A list is also posted in the Summerfield Clubhouse Library and on the bulletin board in the hall across from the library.

At the monthly meetings, after the volunteer has introduced the author information, we take turns around the room commenting about the book.  We enjoy lively discussions in an informal setting and welcome new members.

Each month, the Summerfield Summary includes an article with information about that month’s book.  If you can’t join us, you may want to read the books we are reading.
